50th Reunion Events Page

Our goal is to provide the opportunity for us to reconnect, reacquaint and renew friendships with each other. Recognizing the variety of schedules and personalities involved, several events are planned throughout our Reunion Weekend. We hope you’ll join us for as many as you can.


FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2022

New 1:30 p.m. (arrive by 1:00 - 1:15) -- Pep Rally at the High School

Get fired up and start re-living your high school days by attending the pep rally ahead of your tour. A seating area has been set aside for our group and the principal will acknowledge us as part of the event. Spotlight on the Class of 72! More information will be sent to classmates and their guests who signed up for the tour.

New time 2:30 p.m. - Tour of Walt Whitman High School:

We'll get to walk the halls of our alma mater once again. The school has been rebuilt, so you won’t be able to test the combination on your old locker or check out the dome, but you will see how today’s students experience our high school, and get to attend a Friday afternoon pep rally. There is no charge to participate. Registration closed September 20. 

5:00 p.m. – Welcome Happy Hour/Dinner

A great way to kick-off the weekend and start the process of catching up with old friends. For those who have not made alternate plans or whose plans start later in the evening, we hope you will join us at The Barking Dog in the heart of Bethesda (4723 Elm Street; 301/654-0022; barkingdogbar.com). We’ll be there starting at 5:00 p.m. Come, enjoy a beverage or two with classmates, and stay for dinner if you choose. We’ve reserved a private room upstairs. Plan to pay-your-own-way at this gathering. Register up until October 14th, but sooner is better. 


SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2022

10:00 a.m. – Golf Outing:

We have a 10:02 tee time on Saturday, 10/15, at the Falls Road Golf Course (10800 Falls Rd, Potomac, MD 20854). Classmate Gary Gerber will host this event. The cost is $90/person. Registration closed September 20. 

6:00-10:00 p.m. – 50th Reunion Main Event:

We hope you made plans to join us at the Rock Creek Mansion for an evening of recapturing friendships, reminiscing about the “good ol’ days”, and catching up on the past 50 years. Dress comfortably and prepare for a low-key, high-fun evening with good friends. A variety of dinner food stations, non-alcoholic beverages, and a cash bar (beer and wine) will be available. We were limited to the first 200 who sign-up, and registration closed September 20. The price was $85/ticket for the Main Event alone and $100 for the combo of Main Event and Picnic, Pay by check or Zelle, once you have cleared the waiting list.


SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2022

11:00 a.m.  Picnic at Carderock Pavilion:
The Carderock Picnic will take place at the pavilion in Carderock Park the day following our reunion. It includes a grilled menu of burgers (including some Impossible Burgers), jumbo hot dogs, chicken, veggie kebabs, sides and non alcoholic beverages, PLUS live music! If desired, you can bring beer and wine in unbreakable containers. The pavilion is covered and can accommodate 200 guests, so this event is not weather-dependent. Individual tickets to the picnic are $28 until sales end on Sunday, October 2. Tickets to the picnic were also sold as part of a combo package with the Main Event for $100 until sales ended on September 20th. Please see above about waitlist for Main Event. The Picnic is not waitlisted - only the Main Event.
